Finally got my roots touched up! |
I am a tall girl but I still happen to have a penchant for high heels.
The shoes I favour above all, Christian Louboutin.
No other designer makes shoes as comfortably high or as pretty as Mr Louboutin.
I am not a shallow person (despite how vacuous this may sound) but slipping on a pair of CL's makes me feel inexplicably and undeniably happy.
In my opinion CL shoes when correctly sized are very comfortable and very easy to walk in.
Walking a mile in a hurry won’t be exactly simple but it’s not impossible.
When I bought my first pair of Louboutins, I purchased rubber soles to protect the shoes.
It was purely aesthetics- I wanted the red soles to remain red.
I brought them to a cobblers but decided not to have them fitted.
The cobbler explained to me he had to sand the soles in order for the rubber to stick.
Logically I decided to wear mine and after they have been scuffed through wear I would put the rubber on to protect the actual SOLE and not just the pretty colour!
Beautiful shoes are made to be worn AND loved
My tip would be to do both-wear them get your money’s worth before worrying about maintaining your shoes sole status and most importantly? LOVE every minute of it!
My joint favourite pair |
Despite my undying love for shop display shoe storage, Lately I have been storing my shoes in their dust bags inside their boxes.
I stuff the toes to maintain the shape. In doing so you are maximising the longevity of your shoes you worked hard to afford.
I have decided to show you pictures of the soles in three different stages (all of which have been worn many times) to let you see just exactly what to expect if you are thinking of purchasing a pair

I have a pair and they have gone like your Bianca slingbacks, gutted!if they have to sand the sole to fit the rubber then I think you were right not to go for it

Sooo jealous of you're collection!
Good on you for working so hard to afford them though, I don't think any other high heeled shoe maker could be as good as CL.
My shoes look like the Bianca slingbacks, better to wear the red out the proper way yourself than someone else doing it for you :-)
I am going to wear my Biancas for a good while before I even think of getting the soles put on, if ever. They were made to be worn, plus the bit that you want to get seen, never scuffs xxx
I have had red Vibrams put on brand new CLs, as well as well-worn ones. C&D's shoes on Charlemont Street in Dublin 2 works on all BT's shoes so they stock red Vibrams and only put them on the bit that you walk on, instead of halfway up the sole like some cobblers do. It is expensive but worth it, Vibrams make leather-soled shoes non-slippery indoors and rainproof outdoors. There is NOTHING worse than going out in your CLs, having it rain and then deal with peeling lacquer and possibly warped soles afterwards. My first pairs of CLs I did not even want to wear outside at first but now I'd rather have rubber soles on from the get-go so I don't need to worry about rain or sharp pebbles and glass that can take chunks out of the sole.
Yes I have to agree, Vibrams can help with slippy heels and rain.
I want to get the good out of my CLs as the girls in the boutique dont really reccomend getting the vibram put on as it can mess with the balance of the shoe. I just bought Daffodiles, They are UBER slippy so I think I may in time rummer them up to keep me on my feet! X
I have the red vibram soles on my Decoltissimo's, I wore them til they got very scuffed on the bottom and then bought the soles on ebay and brought them to the cobbler myself. He just put them on the part you walk on and they're perfect, he also said the vibram were very high quality soles. The rest of my Louboutins are mostly evening wear and don't get as much use these days due to the small man, so I haven't put vibram on any of them yet.
I have a pair and they're gone like the concrete ones. Makes me so sad.
i'm about to buy another pair so i'm in search of ways to protect my sole.
Reading your post makes me feel like there's no way. :(
